Buying a car at auction can be a great deal, but getting it home is often the tricky part. Many auction cars are non-runners, have accident damage or have no keys, and auction sites expect buyers to collect quickly. Here is what to plan before you bid.
Check the collection rules
Every auction site has its own rules for collection times, paperwork and who can collect. Some require collection by a registered transporter. Read the lot details and the site's buyer terms before you win the car, not after.
Watch storage deadlines
Auction sites usually charge storage if a vehicle is not collected within a set number of days. Book transport as soon as you have paid so you are not caught out by extra fees.
Know the vehicle's condition
- Does it roll, steer and brake?
- Are the keys included?
- Is there damage to wheels or suspension?
- Is it a car, van, 4x4 or motorbike?
These details decide what equipment is needed. Our tilt-and-slide flatbeds and winches can load non-rollers and damaged vehicles safely.
What to send your transporter
Share the lot number, the collection site and address, the release or collection paperwork, the delivery address and any photos. The more we know in advance, the smoother the collection.
